Responsibilities

New York Institute of Technology seeks an Administrative Assistant for the College of Arts & Sciences (CAS) at our Long Island campus. Reporting to the Chairs of the Math and Physics department, this person will provide office and administrative support for the Math and Physics departments.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Assisting chairpersons in Physics/Math departments in preparation of semester's course schedules and faculty members teaching responsibilities.
  • Enter faculty members compensation forms
  • Record and submit all changes of grades and withdrawals.
  • Act as a liaison between students and faculty.
  • Main contact person for physics majors and math majors.
  • Responsible for maintaining the budget for both departments.
  • Prepare and distribute appointment letters.
  • Collect and store final grades and syllabi.
  • Coordinate interviews for new faculty members and process employment paperwork.
  • Department Communications and Events - Help promote departmental events by posting flyers and notices near Mathematics and Physics offices.
  • Maintain availability of classroom supplies such as whiteboard markers and erasers. Monitor supply levels and coordinate with the secretary for timely reordering.
  • Other math/physics departmental related duties as assigned by the chairs.

 

Qualifications

B,A./B.S. degree is required.

Previous experience in administration is preferred, including working with Microsoft Office Suite & Adobe Sign.

Strong organizational & communication skills and attention to detail.

Ability to follow established procedures independently.

Previous experience using Workday software and PeopleSoft desirable.

Minimum Salary

USD $45,000.00/Yr.

Maximum Salary

USD $48,000.00/Yr.
