The Department of Digital Art and Design at NYIT is seeking an adjunct faculty member to teach Motion Graphics I, an introductory studio course focused on motion design fundamentals, animation principles, and professional workflows for broadcast, digital media, and branded content.
Students will explore time-based design using typography, imagery, and sequential storytelling. The course emphasizes the use of industry-standard tools and techniques, guiding students through a step-by-step production process—beginning with storyboarding and concept development, and moving through animation, sound, and final delivery. Assignments are modeled on real-world creative briefs to prepare students for professional practice.
We are looking for candidates with strong professional experience in the motion graphics industry who can guide students through the contemporary production pipeline. The course should reflect current trends in branding, advertising, entertainment, and digital platforms, while helping students develop both creative fluency and technical proficiency.
Bachelor’s degree in Motion Design, Animation, Graphic Design, or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
Minimum 5 years of professional experience in motion graphics, animation, or digital storytellin.g
Proven ability to work within motion pipelines including storyboard development, animatics, keyframing, compositing, and platform-based delivery.
Expert-level proficiency in Adobe After Effects; strong knowledge of Illustrator, Photoshop, Premiere; experience with Cinema 4D or Blender is a plus.
Familiarity with AI-assisted motion tools, dynamic design systems, or data-driven animation workflows is preferred.
Excellent critique, mentoring, and communication skills.
Teaching, training, or creative team leadership experience a plus.
