The New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine at Arkansas State University (NYITCOM at A-State) Academic Affairs & Department of Basic Sciences invites applicants for a full-time, 12-month faculty position at the level of Instructor / Assistant Professor in the Master’s in Biomedical Sciences Program (BMS).
NYITCOM at A-State is an accredited additional campus of osteopathic medicine in Jonesboro, Arkansas that matriculates approximately 120 students each year. Responsibilities:
The faculty responsibilities are divided into teaching, service, and scholarly activities. All faculty are expected to participate effectively in all three activities. These responsibilities are further divided below:
Actively engage in facilitating of learning of biomedical graduate students.
Participate in curriculum development, assessment, and modification as a part
of the program ongoing quality improvement and assessment program. Support other faculty in the BMS program with course management and administration.
Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team of basic science and clinical faculty to develop and implement basic science content in an innovative and integrated biomedical curriculum based on published best practices.
Participate in the established and implemented assessment and evaluation of students, provide feedback and remedial assistance to ensure that all students meet the established standards.
Participate in, design, and facilitation of different types of active learning sessions such as case-based learning.
Mentor and advise graduate biomedical students.
Provide service to the college community and students through serving on COM committees, providing leadership, mentorship, and expertise to student, participating in with professional organizations or groups as assigned by the Director of Biomedical Sciences Program.
Establish and maintain scheduled office hours for student advising, mentorship
and tutoring.
Demonstrate adaptability and the willingness to assist the college in fulfilling its mission and vision though teaching, academic administrative duties (course/program coordinator/director), and/or perform special duties as assigned by the director.
Advance the prestige of the COM through advancement of its mission and vision and advancement of your personal career.
General Expectations
Maintain a personal and professional development plan, including documentation of teaching, professional development activities and plans, service provided to college and communities, scholarly activity (primarily in medical education) to assure personal growth and continued competency in consultation with the director of biomedical sciences program.
Demonstrate the highest standard of professionalism and ethical behavior in all aspects of personal and professional actions and performance.
Demonstrate and role model an ongoing ability to work cooperatively and as a team with colleagues, supervisors, and support staff.
