The College of Osteopathic Medicine at New York Tech seeks a Research Assistant/Associate located at the Long Island, NY (Old Westbury) campus. Please note this an NIH grant funded position.

Responsibilities

Conduct and assist with experiments and data analysis under the direction of principal investigator. Specific responsibilities include routine biomedical and cellular assays, maintain mouse colonies and genotyping, assess mouse behavior and physiology. Experience with mouse husbandry and studies are preferred.

 

Assist with routine maintenance of Yingtao Zhao lab.

 

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Biology or related area is required.
  • Basic research in mouse handling, genotyping, biochemistry, and molecular biology.
  • Preferred area of expertise in neuroscience.
  • Must have excellent communication skills.
  • General knowledge of molecular biology and cell biology.
  • Basic laboratory skills such as immunoblotting, PCR, immunohistology and skills in mouse husbandry and live animal handling is required.
  • Experience with brain stereotaxic procedure and mouse behavioral assessment is preferred.
  • Previous experience with lab animal models such as mice is preferred.

  • Excellent notebook record and experiment planning.

New York Tech considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate experience/expertise, education/training, key skills, geographic location, internal peer equity as well as market, organizational considerations and/or applicable collective bargaining agreement when extending an offer.

 

Minimum Salary

USD $48,000.00/Yr.

Maximum Salary

USD $58,500.00/Yr.
