The College of Engineering and Computing Sciences at New York Institute of Technology (New York Tech) seeks a non-tenure track research associate/full professor of Mechanical Engineering.  We are seeking accomplished scholars with a demonstrated history of impactful research and a proven ability to secure significant external funding.

 

Responsibilities

  • Perform research and scholarship activities.
  • Advising of graduate students.
  • Participating in all departmental/school activities that advance the goals of the Department/school, i.e. Open House, Preview days, recruitment, service on departmental and college-wide committees, curriculum development, etc.
  • Successful candidates will share our vision to grow the College of Engineering and Computing Sciences into a leader in applied research and a premier source of student talent in the New York Metropolitan Area and globally.

Qualifications

Candidate must have:

 

  • A Ph.D in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
  • An exceptional research portfolio, with a track record of publishing in high-impact journals and securing substantial external grants.
  • A history of collaboration with industrial partners or translational research that bridges academia and industry,
  • A demonstrated leadership in guiding research teams and mentoring students at the undergraduate and graduate levels,
  • A clear vision to contribute to the growth of the College of Engineering and Computing Sciences as a global leader in applied research and innovation.
  • Extensive academic or industrial experience, outstanding communication skills, and a commitment to excellence in research and mentorship at both undergraduate and graduate levels.

New York Tech considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate experience/expertise, education/training, key skills, geographic location, internal peer equity as well as market, organizational considerations and/or applicable collective bargaining agreement when extending an offer.
