The Humanities Department at New York Institute of Technology is seeking a Visiting Assistant Professor in Rhetoric and Composition located at the Long Island (Old Westbury, NY) campus.

Responsibilities

  • Teach undergraduate writing courses, including first-year composition, research writing, and technical communication.
  • Incorporate inclusive pedagogical practices in the classroom.

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in English with a specialization in Rhetoric and Composition, Writing Studies, or a closely related field. Experience in WAC/WID and writing for health professions and in STEM fields is also desired.
  • Previous successful college-level teaching experience.
  • Experience and willingness to teach online asynchronous courses is also preferred.

The Visiting Assistant Professor position in Rhetoric and Composition is a non-tenure track faculty appointment, with possible renewal of an additional year.

New York Tech considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate experience/expertise, education/training, key skills, geographic location, internal peer equity as well as market, organizational considerations and/or applicable collective bargaining agreement when extending an offer.

 

Minimum Salary

USD $70,000.00/Yr.

Maximum Salary

USD $74,000.00/Yr.
