New York Institute of Technology is seeking an experienced Workday Senior Project Manager to lead a project to transform institutional HCM and Finance systems and processes, and replace our legacy Oracle EBS applications with Workday. Working under the direction of the Senior Director of Enterprise Application and Decision Support Systems, the Workday Senior Project Manager will provide project leadership, facilitate business process conversations with functional staff, actively manage the implementation partner and Workday services, and oversee project deliverables and milestones to ensure the successful deployment. The incumbent will be responsible for the daily coordination and management of the logistics and work closely with developers, managers, functional staff, and end users to plan and execute projects; assess and respond to risks; and identify, track and resolve issues. The Workday Senior Project Manager will be expected to summarize and report on project statuses for senior leadership, project team members, consultants and vendor account managers.  They will also be expected to create and maintain complete and accurate project documentation and supervise the change management and training functions/staff.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, organize, plan, implement, and coordinate day-to-day functions, activities, and services of the project to ensure that goals and objectives are accomplished within prescribed time frame, quality, scope, and funding parameters.
  • Collaborate closely with the implementation partner to ensure the consistent application of the deployment methodology, the development of complete and quality deliverables, and the provision of high-quality resources.
  • Communicate and work effectively with internal stakeholders/executives/steering committees, partner project managers, and software teams to ensure a positive, sustainable result.
  • Use disciplined project management methodologies to ensure assigned IT projects and related business process improvement projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Work closely with campus partners to ensure priorities are clear and well aligned, projects are tracking toward completion deadlines, and roadblocks are cleared or escalated in a timely manner.
  • Create, maintain and facilitate the development of comprehensive project documentation including design specifications, requirements documents, test plans, and go-live sign-off documentation; publish appropriate summary status updates online to facilitate communication with stakeholders.
  • Monitors budget expenditures; makes recommendations for changes to staffing, budgets, timelines, and scope.
  • Identify issues and risks associated with the project and appropriately escalate through the project governance structure; develop risk mitigation solutions as needed with input from the project team, governance groups and stakeholders
  • Oversee the project’s change management & training operations
  • Ensure all new technology and enterprise services are reviewed by the appropriate technology and governance committee(s) to ensure all constituencies are informed and have the opportunity to provide feedback throughout the implementation process.
  • Other duties as needed and defined by the supervisor.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree is required. Advanced degree in business analysis, technology or project management preferred. 
  • 3-5 years of related experience project management required on larger scale system implementations. Project management certification (PMP) desired.
  • Experience managing cross-functional project teams and knowledge of managing risks, scope, communication and cross-project dependencies required.
  • Expertise in one or more industries, organizational structures, business process design techniques and development methodologies; preference will be given to candidates with subject matter expertise in HCM and/or Finance and past experience with Workday or Oracle Fusion Cloud.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills to effectively manage concurrent projects and multidisciplinary teams with minimal supervision.
  • Proven ability to coordinate and conduct project status meetings, presentations, follow-up reports, sending out of agendas and meeting minutes for business stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft 365 products, and project management software.
  • Demonstrated passion for problem solving; excellent project and portfolio management experience with the proven ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and activities within time, budget and technical constraints.
  • Ability to establish collaborative working relationships within IT and across campus departments at all levels of the University; the ability to see how various parts interact with the whole (big picture thinking) as well as engage with projects at the micro level when necessary.
  • Must possess a high degree of proficiency and integrity relative to information security as well as broad knowledge of applicable data security/privacy practices and laws.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication and consultative customer service skills. This includes but is not limited to: the ability to communicate effectively with people at varying levels of technical fluency – including the ability to explain complex technical issues in a way that non-technical people may understand; the ability to establish collaborative working relationships at all contact levels of the University; the ability to communicate progress/challenges to appropriate personnel effectively and in a timely manner.
  • Team player with excellent consulting skills and a fun but professional presence required.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with students, faculty, and staff from a variety of diverse backgrounds in support of a welcoming and inclusive environment
  • Occasional ability to work nights, weekends and holidays on an as-needed basis is required.

This position can be considered for a hybrid/remote position with flexibility of working remotely and in our NYC or Old Westbury offices as in line with NYTech remote work policy.

New York Tech considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate experience/expertise, education/training, key skills, geographic location, internal peer equity as well as market, organizational considerations and/or applicable collective bargaining agreement when extending an offer.

 

Minimum Salary

USD $160,000.00/Yr.

Maximum Salary

USD $180,000.00/Yr.
