    Responsibilities

     

    New York Institute of Technology’s College of Engineering & Computing Sciences seeks an Administrative Assistant for the Department of Mechanical Engineering at our Long Island (Old Westbury) campus.  He/she will report to the Chair of the Department of Mechanical Engineering. The department hosts three undergraduate programs and one graduate program. The primary duties will be to support the programs’ students and faculty.

     

    Responsibilities include:

    • Perform clerical duties such as organization, filing, correspondence, scanning, room reservations/changes, key requests, and scheduling for the Chair and Faculty members.
    • Purchase all materials needed for the faculty and students in the Mechanical Engineering Department.
    • Assistance with advisement, assessment and accreditation reports and materials.
    • Assistance with student recruitment, outreach communications and special projects (e.g., open house, preview day). Assistance with on-campus events.
    • Assistance with adjunct faculty and staff hiring.
    • Work as the liaison between different departments within and outside the CoECS. 

     

     

     

    Qualifications

    A Bachelor’s degree is required. 

    Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook is required.

    Computer, organizational, and interpersonal skills are a must.
