    New York Institute of Technology seeks an Assistant Director for the Career Services department at our Long Island (Old Westbury) campus. Reporting to the Director, the Assistant Director will assist students and alumni in understanding the career development process.

    Responsibilities include:

    • Collaborate with academic partners to deliver career-related workshops, class presentations, and additional outreach programs to student organizations.
    • Create and deliver specific career services informational programs to be presented to incoming students and their parents during the annual orientation month.
    • Advise students and alumni on all areas of career development and career management including resume writing, interviewing and presentation skills, job search techniques and networking.
    • Familiarize students with Career Services resources.
    • Administer and interpret career assessments to properly advise students and alumni.
    • In conjunction with Career Services team members, create and implement outreach initiatives to increase Career Services visibility among faculty and staff to build strong cooperative relationships to assist with the delivery of the career message on campus.
    • Work with our Strategic Communication partners to manage and post digital and web events to market department functions.
    • Maintain accuracy of Career Services webpages.
    • Represent the Career Services office at Admissions Open Houses, orientation programs, and other college-wide events, which may occur on the weekend or in the evening.
    • Serve on other campus committees that affect student recruitment, retention, and development as directed by the Director of Career Services.
    • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Career Services and other administrators.




    Bachelor’s Degree required.

    Master's degree preferred

    1-2 years of experience in career services, higher education, student affairs, human resources, advising or a related field required.

    Exceptional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Strong organizational and administrative skills and demonstrated ability to work in a team environment and to manage multiple projects.

    Strong critical thinking, time management and intercultural communication skills.

    Knowledge of career development theories, practices and career assessment tools.

    Knowledge of Career Management Software is a plus.
