    New York Tech, Office of Financial Aid seeks an Assistant Director for the Long Island, Old Westbury NY campus. 

    Responsibilities

    The Assistant Director of Financial Aid will provide financial aid counseling and superior customer service to our students and their families in all aspects related to higher education financial aid. This includes explanation of aid options and resources available to them.  The Assistant Director assists in and is responsible for (but not limited to) the following:

     

     

    • Assist students and their families in securing financial aid for higher education costs. This includes communication regarding eligibility for awards and obligations of receiving financial aid.
    • The Assistant Director serves as the front-line counselor to current and prospective students and families and is responsible for answering inquiries via phone, email and in person, and works to resolve issues in a timely and courteous manner.
    • The Assistant Director will assist in determining eligibility for financial assistance and calculating the type and amount of aid awarded. This includes evaluating and analyzing financial information submitted by applicants; verifying application information by comparing against tax documents to insure accuracy; creating financial aid packages and communicating awards and process information to potential applicants.
    • The Assistant Director will maintain up to date knowledge of the latest regulations and insure compliance requirements are adhered to as they pertain to financial aid.
    • In addition, the Assistant Director will also participate in specific assigned committees, discrete responsibilities, as well as recruitment and retention activities.  The position will require occasional weekend and/or evening hours. The Financial Aid Office has locations on both campuses. This position is generally based in our Old Westbury office. Some intercampus travel required.

     

     

     

     

    Qualifications

    Bachelor's degree required. 1 to 3 years in financial aid counseling or higher education /enrollment services administration experience required.  Excellent public relations, communications and computer skills a must; experience with student information systems (ie. Peoplesoft, Target X,) is preferred. Bilingual ability is also a plus.
