    • Provide operational, financial and managerial support for the Dining Services Department by streamlining and increasing overall efficiency wherever possible. This is done in areas pertaining to cost control and monitoring, staffing and recruitment, employee performance management, establishing and overseeing the implementation of department standards and other tasks as deemed necessary by the Dining Services Director. 
    • Create and maintain a position control program for Dining Services.  Work with Budgets and Human Resources to ensure that all open positions, new hires, terminations, position changes and separations are accounted for.
    • Manage and complete weekly payroll for the department.
    • Execute weekly reporting and analysis of the payroll projections and actuals report, labor cost calculations relating to any schedule changes, labor cost break down for each wedding held at de Seversky, lateness report and finger scan reports for all staff in the department. Communicate all reporting to Director of Dining Services and other management as necessary.
    • With the Director of Dining Services, determine overall staffing needs within the department and monitor the use of internal versus external resources to minimize cost and increase service. Meet weekly with the Director of Dining Services and provide updates on staffing needs and present creative staffing and recruitment strategies including attending job fairs, internal hiring events and other creative staffing solutions as necessary.
    • Create, review and revise job descriptions and ePDQ’s as needed.
    • Manage and input all new and replacement job requisitions, employee change of status and temporary job requisitions into Oracle. Ensure all requisitions are entered accurately into Oracle to optimize approval times. Monitor the progress of requisitions and the resulting searches to minimize time to hire.
    • Effectively manage and mentor the Dining Services Administrative Assistant. Often training on recruitment, payroll and reporting best practices. Oversee that all reporting and recruitment responsibilities are completed on a weekly basis. 
    • Manage and create new and existing relationships with temporary staffing firms. Order all staffing requests for the department and review and approve all invoices for payment.
    • With the office of Human Resources, manage and oversee all recruitment initiatives for the Dining Services Department. Execute recruiting tasks such as; sourcing candidates, reviewing resumes, scheduling interviews, coordinating interviews with division managers, checking references, submitting offer letter requests to HR and ensuring all appropriate on-boarding tasks are completed.
    • Oversee and manage all documentation for employee performance within the department. Work with HR to ensure all verbal warnings and written warnings are approved and documented. Work as liaison between legal and HR departments for all separations and terminations of staff.
    • Manage existing intern programs with the hospitality department by advising managers on training and coaching, scheduling rotations and assignments; assisting with coaching interns, and monitoring intern job contributions.
    • With input from the Director of Dining services, create, implement and train employees on dining services policies and procedures. Act as liaison to other areas of NYIT to ensure that dining service employees are aware of and understand NYIT policies and procedures.
    • Oversee performance management and performance evaluations for staff within the department while ensuring all deadlines are met. Visit service areas on a regular basis to follow up on staff progress. Meet with area managers regularly to discuss staff progress and challenges and when needed review expectations with staff according to their job description.
    • Manage the distribution, inventory and ordering of all uniforms for the department.
    • Manage and oversee all employee engagement and professional development initiatives for the Dining Services Department. Manage the employee of the quarter and department of the quarter programs.  
    • Other duties as assigned.



    • Bachelor’s degree required.
    • Experience working in hospitality and/or dining services department preferred.
    • Experience with business finance, including budgeting, payroll management, and cost containment.  
    • Demonstrated ability to use creative staff management and scheduling ideas to maximize productivity and minimize cost.  Includes experience with temporary agencies. 
    • Training and Development and general human resources experience – policies, procedures, basic supervisory skills (including performance review and documentation)
    • Advanced computer skills - ability to develop unique documents, reports and spreadsheets using Microsoft Office
    • Office management skills including calendar management, time and attendance reporting, and position control monitoring
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills
    • Must possess an extraordinary level of professionalism and customer service skills with a high regard for confidentiality, both internally and externally. 
    • Flexible availability to assist the operation during off hours including nights and weekends.
