    The Department of Mathematics of the New York Institute of Technology is inviting applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level beginning Fall 2019.

    Responsibilities

    Selected candidate is required to teach all pre-calculus, calculus service courses and other advanced courses in candidates’ area of specialization. NYIT emphasizes interdisciplinary research and teaching. The faculty member will have the opportunity to develop and participate in new interdisciplinary initiatives with other STEM disciplines, contribute to a Math Major Curriculum in Applied and Computational Mathematics in the near future.

    Qualifications

     

    At the time of appointment, the Candidate must hold a PhD degree granted by a Mathematics Department in one of the following fields: Mathematics/ Applied Mathematics, Statistics or any field in Computational Mathematics.  Areas of greatest need and interest are for applicants with expertise in Statistics and those areas of Applied Mathematics most relevant to computational science, operations research, optimization and data science applicable to mathematical (statistical) modeling, but exceptional applicants from all areas of pure and applied mathematics will be considered. Candidate must demonstrate excellent teaching and must have a well-defined research program with publications/showing promise for publication. Postdoctoral experience and a potential for securing external grant is preferred.
