    Reporting to the Registrar, New York Institute of Technology seeks an Assistant Registrar, for the Manhattan campus.  The Assistant Registrar acts as liaison to deans and registrars at global campuses. This position provides support to the registrar staff who work at NYIT global campus locations.

    Responsibilities

    Act as liaison to deans and registrars at the global campuses, which includes frequent communication, training and ensuring that NYIT policies and procedures are followed, as well as backup to the NYIT TAP certifying officer including evaluating and certifying students in the officer’s absence.

     

    Prepares an annual administrative calendar for the global sites that includes dates for submitting semester class schedules, future academic calendars, final grades and review of student records for dismissal, collects, builds and reviews the schedule of classes from all global sites each semester and review them for compliance with NYIT policies. Review students for graduation and provide support for global students to the graduation office.  Meet with students as needed.

     

    He/she ensures that all transfer credit from the China campuses is received and entered onto student’s academic records at the end of each semester and ensures registrar staff at global campuses are trained to use the SIS and know NYIT policies.

     

    Assist with the teachout of global campuses that are closing.  This includes setting up a structure to maintain and transfer student records to the NY campus.  Provides support to the registrar staff at these locations.

     

    Candidate will assist with technical matters as they relate to the global campuses, maintain a global training manual and keep it current, including policies and procedures, SIS guidance, and an administrative calendar and assist with all functions in the NYC registrar’s office. This includes providing customer service, checking email, registering students, traveling to the Long Island campus when coverage is needed, scheduling rooms, training staff, participating in SIS testing and assisting with other duties as assigned.

     

    Assures that the release of student data and information complies with FERPA and safeguard all forms, documents and information.

     

    Performs quality assurance for all areas of Assistant Registrar responsibility including transfer credit, registrations, and class rosters, participates as a member of the registrar’s SIS testing team. Participation requires attendance when updates and patches must be tested before being loaded into the production database. Testing responsibilities will focus on your area of experience; however, all members should be able to test the screens and functions utilized by the registrar.

    Qualifications

    Bachelor’s degree is required with a minimum or 3 years related experience. Must have the ability to interpret and explain complex academic policies to multiple constituents and be able to exercise judgement and in working with a broad and diverse constituency. 

     

    Knowledge of PeopleSoft student information systems is preferred. Must possess excellent  organizational skills, as well as work independently with minimal supervision with ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously. 

     

    Knowledge of Microsoft Office products (MS Word, Excel, etc.) is required as well as demonstrated attention to detail and ability to travel to other campuses as required. 

     

    Demonstrated strong technical aptitude and have excellent problem-solving, verbal, written communication and interpersonal skills.  Must be a self-starter, take individual initiative, have great attention to detail and the demonstrated ability to prioritize and advance multiple tasks simultaneously with proven ability to work with and maintain confidential information and material.
