New York Institute of Technology (NYIT), Department of Life Sciences/Chemistry, has initiated a national search for a tenure-track position in Chemistry at the Assistant/Associate Professor rank.
The Life Sciences Department of NYIT combines the disciplines of Biology and Chemistry. Our Long Island campus has approximately 500 students majoring in biology, biotechnology, biomedical engineering, chemistry, and premed studies.

We are looking for a Chemist to develop a research program that will complement existing research. Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate introductory and advanced lecture and laboratory courses in general, inorganic, analytical chemistry or biochemistry. The candidates will pursue research in the field of expertise, engage undergraduate students in research, advise students and perform service to the department, university, and community.
Life Sciences faculty research interests are diverse, including medicinal and organic chemistry, neuroscience, cell and molecular biology, genetics, biochemistry, microbiology, virology, computational chemistry, analytical chemistry, epigenetics, and advanced sequencing technology development. Faculty in the Department of Life Sciences have ample opportunity to collaborate with faculty at the NYIT College of Engineering and Computer Sciences and the NYIT College of Osteopathic Medicine.
A Ph.D. in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related discipline as well as postdoctoral experience is required. A record of scholarly activity appropriate for the rank and evidence of successful undergraduate teaching. Demonstration of collaborative and/or interdisciplinary research is preferred. Applicants must have a history of scholarly achievement.

Projected starting date is Fall 2019 with primary teaching responsibilities at the Long Island campus, and with occasional teaching in New York City campus.
