The Department of Anatomy at the New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine (NYITCOM) is seeking a Research Technician to contribute to the 3D imaging and analysis of research specimens using computerized tomography (CT) and white light reflectance confocal microscopy. NYTICOM’s Anatomy Department is the home of 9 anatomists that do active research in comparative and clinical anatomy, and the Visualization Lab is home to a SkyScan microCT and Sensofar N Neox optical profiler (Confocal Microscope) that are used by a variety of researchers from NYIT and the surrounding region. The position will involve scanning biological and paleontological specimens, training of students and other researchers, lab scheduling, machine maintenance, and data processing.
Specific duties include:
The ideal candidate will have had prior experience with the generation and/or analysis of microCT and/or surface metrology data, but we will consider applicants with experience in other medical imaging technologies as well.
The position is open to candidates with an undergraduate degree. Individuals with advanced degrees (MS, PhD, and postdoctoral) are encouraged to apply. Biology, Engineering, or Computer Science experience required. Microscopy or radiography experience preferred.
Strong computer skills, including ability to learn new software programs and basic troubleshooting. Must be highly organized and careful.
Experience or coursework in medical/scientific imaging and/or image processing software such as Amira/Avizo, Dragonfly, VG Studio Max or SensoMAP would be beneficial.
