    The Sr. Specialist for Operations shall support the Advising & Enrichment Center (AEC) as well as the Enrollment Services Center (ESC) in successfully implementing retention and graduation-focused initiatives and services for NYITs undergraduate population. S/he shall play an integral role in providing data analysis, ensuring timely execution of outlined initiatives, and providing general office support to both the AEC and ESC.

    • Oversee the timely execution and communications development of the campaigns outlined in the team calendar; Compile data in preparation for campaign outreach; Manage campaign trackers used to assess outcomes of various AEC/ESC initiatives
    • Become proficient with Advising software (EAB's Student Success Collaborative) and act as a resource to campus partners; Provide training sessions to new faculty and advisors; Assist in the creation of and delivery of department-led campaigns; Create and maintain user guides and training materials.
    • Oversee the case management of the SOS Early Alert system; Follow up with reminder procedures and outcome tracking
    • Assist in the coordination of the advisement/registration process for first semester freshmen and first semester transfers; Prepare and update relevant advisement materials (semester maps, first semester grids, etc.), manage the training of summer advising staff, and coordinate peer advisor schedules
    • Pull various usage and outcome reports via the Student Success Collaborative, STAR retention model, DataWarehouse, or other reports, as needed
    • Organize and maintain AEC and ESC projects within Basecamp; ensure timely execution of deadline-driven initiatives
    • Assist in the compilation and dissemination of information about academic advisement to appropriate departments and administrators, as needed; Provide training to newly appointed advisors and staff; Assist with the assessment of services and programs as well as with the analysis, preparation, and distribution of department reports
    • Assist with all areas of the AEC and ESC offices acting as generalist support in several areas; Provide excellent customer service and act as a resource for students, faculty, staff and the community
    • Assist in the planning of regular training and professional development opportunities for the teams
    • Maintain and update AEC and ESC web content and published materials; Ensure that information is up to date and accurate at all times

    Administrative Responsibilities: 

    • Provide administrative support to the front desk of the Advising & Enrichment Center office at the Long Island campus; triage student walk-ins and appointments as they arrive; respond to mail line calls, voicemails, and emails
    • Support the AEC and ESC in daily administrative tasks including ordering supplies and maintaining the office calendar. Schedule meetings on behalf of the Assoc. Dean.  Record minutes of team meetings and other meetings, as needed
    • Oversee and create procedures for office management such as vacation requests, office supplies, budget requests, etc.
    • Assist in the administration of the Peer Advisor program
    • Assist in all other departmental initiatives and campus-wide committees and events such as New Student Orientation, Preview Day, Open House, and Commencement



    • Bachelor’s degree required
    • At least three years of professional experience working in an academic or student services role at a college or university. Demonstrated success working with students in a service-oriented environment.
    • Experience with academic advising at the higher education level, including policies, academic disciplines, coursework, and graduation requirements is preferred.
    • Excellent analytical, organizational and technical skills (MS Office Suite) required. Demonstrated experience working with data required. Knowledge of PeopleSoft and EAB Student Success Collaborative preferred.
    • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, required. Excellent customer-service skills required as well.
    • Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills are required to effectively work with staff, students, and establish rapport with faculty members and academic staff. Demonstrated sensitivity to cultural diversity. 
    • Must be able to work flexible hours including weekends and evenings, as required
    • Must be able to travel to the New York City (Manhattan) campus, as needed
