    New York Institute of Technology seeks an Assistant Athletic Director to work for our Athletic Department in Compliance on our Long Island campus. This person will report directly to the Director of Athletics and will oversee all compliance for the institutions thirteen teams.

    Responsibilities include:

    • Reviewing progress towards degree of each student-athlete which includes running grades and check GPA’s to make sure they meet NCAA and institutional requirement
    • Monitoring NCAA certification for new students.
    • Oversee recruiting logs and practice logs.
    • Issue NLIs to incoming students to make sure they meet all deadlines.
    • Ensure squad lists are updated before the beginning of the season.
    • Submit violations and student athlete waivers to the NCAA and ECC.
    • Assist and compile NCAA and institutional reports such as the NCAA Sports Sponsorship and Demographic reports.
    • Oversee the Athletic Department Scholarship Budget while working with coaches each year to determine increases, renewals, non-renewals and offers.
    • Meet regularly with all coaches to discuss coaching styles and practices.
    • Assist in the selection of new personnel, coaches and student work force.
    • Assist in the planning of regularly scheduled staff meetings.
    • Attend all athletic staff meetings.
    • Run compliance education programs.
    • Serve as the point of contact with admissions, registrar, bursar and financial aid check the status of incoming or returning student-athletes.
    • Attend institutional sponsored events (open house, orientation, senior awards banquet, and alumni events, etc.).
    • Represent NYIT at conference meetings and attend and serve as a spokesperson for the institution at athletic meetings when requested by the directors.

    • Other duties as assigned






    • Bachelor’s Degree Required.
    • Master’s Degree preferred.
    • Experience in an intercollegiate athletic environment.
    • Previous NCAA compliance work required
    • Knowledge of NCAA guidelines.
    • High level of organizational and strong communication skills required. 
    • Experience in managing and applying policies and requirements of outside agencies to a work environment.
    • Knowledge of managing compliance issues in a work setting.
