    New York Institute of Technology seeks a Library Assistant for the Wisser Library at our Old Westbury campus. Reporting to the Director, the Library Assistant will be primarily responsible for the circulation activities and will be the front end person to assist students and patrons as they enter the library.  


    Responsibilities include:


    • Oversee circulation services such as lending reserve and circulating books, laptops, ipads and other technological equipment.
    • Answer basic information questions and assist patrons.
    • Maintain student records, over dues, fines, notices, etc.
    • Process intra-library loan book requests from the other branch libraries.
    • Stacks management/weeding and shifting of books in the collection.
    • Oversee student aides and grad students: scheduling, training, approve timesheets
    • Data entry and maintenance of student records for library fines and other monetary transactions
    • Assist students with printer/copier problems and monitor supplies of copy paper, toner, ink cartridges and various other equipment.
    • Collect all of the database statistics and compile into departmental spreadsheet.
    • Assist students with 3D printer problems and other technological equipment as needed
    • Cover the Reference desk and Innovation center when needed.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Hours: 8-am-4pm



    • Bachelor’s Degree required.
    • Library experience preferred.
    • Knowledge of ILS systems, preferably SIRSI Dynix and LC Classification a plus.
    • Knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
    • Good organizational and problem solving skills with attention to detail
