    NYIT Athletics seeks a full-time Head Coach for its Softball  program in accordance with NCAA, East Coast Conference and University Rules, Regulations and Policies. Reporting to the Director of Athletics, the Head Coach’s responsibilities include but are not limited to coaching, recruitment and selection of qualified prospective student athletes and managing a competitive DII softball program, consistent with the mission and philosophy of New York Institute of Technology.

    Responsibilities include:

    • Managing Games and preparation: Oversee practices to improve student skills, scouting, review games of other institutions to determine team strategies.
    • Develop with the Athletic Director and the Assistant Director a comprehensive intercollegiate schedule with opposing institutions.
    • Recruit responsible and talented student athletes. Insure all NCAA, ECC, and Institutional recruitment policies and procedures are adhered and complied with.
    • Work with admissions to arrange on-campus visits for all prospective student athletes with their parents.
    • Attend all athletic staff meetings, games, institutional sponsored events (open house, orientation, senior awards banquet, and alumni events.
    • Represent NYIT at the conference and national level through meetings and committee work.
    • Maintain fiduciary control of all allocated budget funds.
    • Lead team fund raising efforts and maintain fiduciary control for all fund raising activities that supplement the team budget.
    • Supervise assistant coaching staff and volunteers.
    • Ensure all student -athletes are in “good-standing” with all NYIT, NCAA, and ECC rules and regulations.
    • Review rules with all student-athletes and monitor academic athletic progress while providing counseling when necessary.
    • Manage, maintain and safeguard all issued equipment.
    • Develop and implement community service events required of all student athletes.



    Bachelor Degree preferred.

    2-3 years of related experience or equivalent of educations and experience.

    Playing and/or softball coaching experience at collegiate or professional level required.

    Ability to recruit high level and high character student athletes.

    First Aid and CPR certified.
