    NYIT seeks a Registrar Assistant, in the Office of the Registrar for the Old Westbury campus.

    Reporting to the Associate Registrar, the Registrar Assistant assists with all functions of the Registrar’s office including providing excellent customer service, answering telephones, providing information about policies and procedures to the community , ensuring that the release of student data information complies with FERPA and safeguarding all forms, documents and information, this includes locking computers and cabinets when not in use.

    Responsibilities

    The Registrar Assistant will audit academic records of candidates for graduation from the global and NY campuses to determine eligibility for graduation. Ensure that all program requirements have been satisfied, all course substitutions and equivalencies have been approved by the appropriate academic office, and that all remaining requirements both administrative and academic have been completed.

    He/she will update the student’s record and ensure paper records are imaged in the NYIT Web Now system in compliance with FERPA and registrar policies. Communicate with staff, faculty and students regarding the status of graduation and address inquiries concerning academic program requirements, NYIT guidance policies and/or individual student concerns.

    Review documents submitted for change of personal information; collaborate with the Assistant Registrar for Global Programs to prepare and deliver trainings in addition to meeting with Global staff directly to address policy, procedure, administrative and graduation issues.

    Responsible for researching and answering questions sent to the registrar’s email box, proofread and distribute diplomas and transcripts in accordance to NYIT policy.      

    Travel to NYIT Manhattan campus may be required on occasion, occasional weekend and work evening hours are required, and perform other duties as assigned.    

    Qualifications

     

    Bachelor’s degree required and a minimum of 3 years in a higher education environment is preferred. Must be courteous and exhibit friendliness and professionalism in front-line contact with faculty, staff students and other constituents coupled with experience and skill in working with diverse populations. Demonstrated skill in oral and written communications is required (may require a writing sample), with proficiency in Microsoft Office products including MS Word and Excel. Knowledge of PeopleSoft student information system is preferred. Experience working within a customer service oriented environment, preferably in a higher education setting.
