    New York Institute of Technology seeks a Student Engagement & Community Liaison for the School of Engineering & Computing Sciences at our Manhattan campus. The Student Engagement Liaison's primary role is to provide quality service to the students and address directly the Wall Street Journal & Time Higher Education Rankings, particularly: student engagement, student retention, and the improvement of NYIT’s reputation.

    Specific responsibilities:

    Ensure that "relationships" are built with students instead of mere transactions through the necessary internal outreach to  students for events, initiatives, and career oriented opportunities (Orientation, Freshmen Barbeque, Graduate Open Forums, Honors, SOAR, competitions, entrepreneurial challenges, company information sessions, scholarships, internships, etc) and encourage and reward student engagement.

    Facilitate advisement sessions and one-on-one advisement appointments and make sure student concerns are addressed in a timely fashion with the goal of making sure the students feel respected and well served.

    Interface with the Student Academic Enrichment Division on Student Retention initiatives as they apply to the SoECS.

    Interface with other NYIT departments such as Communications & Marketing, Enrollment Services (Student Communications), Admissions office, Registrar, Career Services, Alumni Affairs, Student Life, etc.

    Develop communications and execution plans for student experiential opportunities including professional meetings, seminars, and conferences from concept to post-event follow up (thank you letters/surveys), and promotion protocols that can be utilized and refined on an ongoing basis for recurring SoECS events.

    Coordinate logistics for dean's student council biweekly meetings, SoECS student clubs meetings, seminars and conferences (reserve space, order food, organize handouts and promotional materials) and plan audience outreach strategies, adjust strategies and additional marketing/promotion as needed, and report registration and RSVP status regularly leading up to an event.

    Utilize and maintain existing databases of contacts and contact lists and create new ones to enhance School of Engineering and Computing Sciences (SoECS) student academic, extra-curricular, and leadership and volunteer experiences, via conferences, camps, workshops, ETIC events, Open House, Preview Days, High School Showcase, Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day, etc.

    Utilize various digital platforms (i.e. Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, MailChimp email blasts) and the NYIT website to engage SoECS students.

    Enhance the utilization of technology platforms (Google Docs, Google Folders, EndNote, Scribe, etc) for project management in the SoECS.

    Post and promote photos and stories from and about the SoECS (student accomplishments, conferences, etc) for publicity both internally (within NYIT) and externally via a SoECS-specific Blog and the NYIT Box Blog.

    Help design, create and update marketing collateral across all media platforms.

    Assist with follow up with SoECS Strategic Partners especially High Schools and STEM Organizations in Manhattan and on Long Island.

    Create and maintain SoECS students events calendar of internal and external events.

    Assist with SoECS Dean's Executive Advisory Board meetings, correspondence, and follow up.

    Other duties as directed by the SoECS dean and dean's office and cross campus travel as required.





    BS or BA (MA or MS preferred). At least two years of Administrative experience. Proficiency in working with PC based programs including Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Strong written, verbal, organizational and communications skills. Knowledge of social media messaging.
