    Responsibilities

    Food and Menu Preparation –

     

    • Adhere to daily work plan provided by the Chef de Cuisine 
    • Follow recipes, yields, and execute the procedures of cooking on a daily basis
    • Prepare and serve food for weekly events such as weddings, social events, NYIT events, and business conferences.
    • Maintain cleanliness of work station
    • Maintain storage area as well as handle monthly inventories and recordkeeping.
    • Follow Banquet Event Orders (BEO’s) daily to familiarize with items that are being prepped and served throughout entire week.
    • Receive deliveries
    • Maintain proper storage of prepped food items to be covered, labeled and dated.
    • Conduct daily end of shift (EOS) walkthroughs
    • Other duties as assigned.

     

    Maintenance and Cleaning –

     

    • Maintain standards of sanitation, kitchen hygiene, and food service techniques and safety at all times.
    • Maintain all kitchen equipment and note items that are in need of repair, cleaning, buffing, or replacement and report to NYIT service central immediately for attention.
    • Clean and organize all areas including work stations, refrigerators, walk-ins, storage rooms, and general employee areas

    Qualifications

    • Educational Requirements: (High school or Equivalent), plus two to three years’ of experience in a high volume commercial catering kitchen setting serving up to 200+ people, or a combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills are acquired
    • Must possess Food Manager Certification, and follow the HACCP policies and procedures
    • Ability to work a variety of shifts including weekends, evenings and holidays.
    • Ability to perform basic mathematics.
    • Ability to stand for extended periods of time and occasioanlly lift/ or move up to 25 lbs.
