    New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine is currently recruiting for a Standardized Patient Educator for the Institute for Clinical Competence, Old Westbury, New York Campus. Responsibilities include:


    • Assist in training SPs in all aspects of case portrayal (delivering details, physical simulation, affect, and realism)
    • Assist in SP case editing
    • Assist in training SPs in effective use of internal software programs and compliance with documentation standards
    • Assist in training SPs in the appropriate Communication and Feedback skills to help prepare students for the COMLEX STEP 2 PE
    • Assist in the development of policies and procedures, observe videos of SPs across sites for quality assurance purposes and recommends intervention, re-training or removal of an SP as needed to maintain standardization
    • Assist in recruitment and screening of candidate SPs
    • Assist in the setup, preparation, performance and upkeep of mannequins and other simulation devices in the Simulation Lab
    • Manage student rosters, create student ICC schedule and input session information into Learning Management System
    • Participates in meetings, seminars, appropriate conferences as a means of professional development



    • Bachelor's degree required
    • Experience in principles and practices of clinical medicine
    • Three (3) or more years SP training experience or standardized patient work
    • Management and/or administration experience required.
    • Ability to work well with a variety of people including members of the NYIT staff, physicians, students and standardized patients.
    • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with a variety of people including physicians, students, and standardized patients.
    • Ability to work effectively on multiple tasks.
    • Ability to be well organized in all work aspects.
    • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
    • Capacity for flexibility and adaptability in different work situations, advanced problem solving skills.
    • Candidate must be comfortable performing physical examinations of SP’s entire body for training purposes, with the exception of rectal, pelvic, genital, female breast and corneal reflex examinations. Must also be comfortable with these maneuvers being performed on them as needed.
    • Exhibit Exceptional professionalism and carry out other duties as assigned by supervisor
    • Ability to work flexible week-day and Saturday hours occasionally may be required due to program needs
