New York Institute of Technology Counseling and Wellness department seeks an Associate Director to provide short term mental health counseling and crisis intervention to students.


  • Provide short term mental health counseling: individual, group, crisis intervention
  • Oversees the of Old Westbury Office of Counseling and Wellness in the absence of the Director
  • Assist director in campus-wide outreach and special projects
  • Provide training workshops for student leaders and residential advisors
  • Provide consultation services and trainings for campus personnel
  • Create referral network for out-patient services
  • Attain educational client brochures and resources
  • Serve on college-wide committees
  • Organize and facilitate wellness programming for students



  • Master’s degree in counseling or related field
  • NYS License: LCSW, LMHC, Psychologist
  • 3-5 years of direct counseling experience in a clinical setting; preferred college counseling center
  • Prior experience with short term counseling techniques, crisis management and risk assessment
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication and administrative skills required.
  • Excellent computer skills: Microsoft suite, Excel, Electronic medical records
  • Ability to work with a diverse student body
  • Excellent crisis management skills
  • On call responsibilities
  • Strong ability to collaborate between departments
