New York Institute of Technology seeks a part time Graduate Advisor to assist the School of Engineering and Computing Sciences (SoECS) in referring prospective graduate students to NYIT’s Old Westbury and Manhattan campuses for enrollment and registration into SoECS graduate level programs.

Responsibilities

  • Refer graduate students to NYIT’s Old Westbury and Manhattan campuses for enrollment and registration into SoECS graduate level programs in: Energy Management, Environmental Technology and Sustainability, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information, Network, and Computer Security, Mechanical Engineering, and Bioengineering.
  • Develop a plan and timeline to achieve a set recruitment target with short-term and long-term milestones, deliverables, and outcomes.
  • Work on targeted outreach to department chairs and seniors in College and offer to hold onsite information sessions about SoECS MS programs.
  • Facilitate the development of joint BS-MS or 4+1 programs within NYIT and between NYIT and non-MS degree granting colleges.
  • Identify and develop company contacts through trade organizations and professional associations (AEE, IEEE, etc) and utilize existing contacts at companies in industries related to SoECS degree programs to ask for referrals of interested employees to become students at NYIT.
  • Identify and target companies that have strong tuition assistance programs.
  • Visit with target companies and organizations and discuss NYIT degree programs with employees or have employees referred to you. 
  • Identify alumni contacts: Work with Career Services to obtain SoECS NYIT alumni names to create a mailing list for solicitation. Utilize LinkedIn and other social media tools to develop an alumni list for solicitation for each department. Develop correspondence for mailings and a communications plan for reaching recent alumni (i.e. 1-5 years post-graduation for undergrads) and older alumni (for company targets for recruiting).
  • Plan and convene in person or online information meetings and showcase events for prospective college students, target companies and alumni to discuss the professional development (course-or degree-based) needs of their employees and showcase SoECS programs.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Dean

 

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s Degree preferred
  • Prior experience in Admissions recruitment specifically in the area of graduate level programs in engineering or computing sciences
  • Proficiency in working with PC based programs including Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Strong written, organizational and communication skills.
