The School of Engineering and Computing Sciences at New York Institute of Technology (NYIT) seeks an Administrative Assistant for the Old Westbury campus.  This individual reports on a part-time basis to the Old Westbury Chairs of 2 Graduate Programs in Environmental Technology and Sustainability, and Energy Management, and serves a large number of students and faculty including international student cohorts.

Responsibilities include:

  • Assistance with student advisement including international student cohorts; course and faculty schedule planning; and assessment. 
  • Competency with NYIT Software Systems including PeopleSoft, Faculty Compensation (FacComp), Capital Budget (CPRS), Oracle Recruitment Authorizations (RAs), and other tools as needed.
  • Assistance with full time and adjunct faculty and staff hiring.
  • Student recruitment activities, outreach communications to students, faculty, and external stakeholders (industrial advisory board, alumni, and employers).
  • Student retention activities in particular the SOAR peer tutoring program, and the BS-MS Accelerated Program.
  • Assistance with on-campus events at two NY campuses (Manhattan and Old Westbury) is required.
  • Work as a liaison between different departments within and outside of the School of Engineering and Computing Sciences and other NYIT offices.
  • Other duties assigned by the Dean of the School of Engineering and Computing Sciences are an important element of the position.

Evening hours may be required.



Bachelor’s degree required. 

Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.

Computer, organizational, and interpersonal skills are a must.
