New York Institute of Technology (NYIT) seeks an Administrative Assistant for the College of Arts and Sciences at the Manhattan Campus.
Departmental Support – Assists the department chairperson in operation of the Digital Art & Design department; Assisting the MFA Director with details specific to the graduate program; Providing department policies, resources, and information relevant to all faculty fulltime and adjunct; providing information, resources, and help to students in the office; distributing departmental news and information through communication channels; performing Clerical tasks and record keeping as assigned.
Advisement/Course Support - Assisting students, communicating departmental information to students; maintaining student records; coordinating class scheduling details, assisting with advisement processing and records.
Recruitment and Student - Related Activities Support: Maintaining, processing, and archiving BFA and MFA portfolio reviews; communicating students acceptance with admissions; attend and assist with orientation/welcome events; assisting chair with recruitment efforts. Assist and provide communications with prospective students.
Purchasing and Supplies - Generate Budget reports and maintaining supplies.
Classroom/Facilities - Processing requests for facility maintenance; keeping abreast of maintenance problems and requests related to facilities; communicating with all personnel involved about facility/maintenance projects, Ensuring completion of projects; Coordinate locker and equipment check out for students; work with the Chair and Gallery committee on the needs of the Department gallery spaces.
Faculty/Student Personnel - facilitating documents for hires; preparing faculty compensation.
Supervising work study students.
A Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts is preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Word is required, knowledge of PeopleSoft is preferred. Detailed oriented with the ability to execute multiple tasks in an organized manner and must have excellent communication, interpersonal and computer skills. Familiarity with Google Drive and basic web content management is preferred. Preferred candidates must demonstrate an enthusiasm for working with students and faculty to enhance the community/well being of the department . A background in Art. Design or related discipline is a plus.
