Its seven schools and colleges include: School of Architecture and Design; College of Arts and Sciences, School of Engineering and Computing Sciences; School of Health Professions; School of Management; College of Osteopathic Medicine, and the newly formed School of Interdisciplinary Studies and Education.

Responsibilities

As Chief Academic Officer of the school, the Dean will report to the Provost and be responsible for developing, leading, and implementing strategic planning related to program and curriculum development, and facilitating research initiatives with faculty and staff. The Dean will oversee the budget and enrollment activity planning, and will lead communications about the school. This will include internal efforts to make NYIT an intellectual community that encourages interdisciplinary collaboration as well as external development, including fundraising for the School. Through regular engagement with students and staff, as well as faculty, the Dean will identify, nurture, and enable interdisciplinary projects and programs.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will demonstrate a record of excellence in teaching, scholarship, and professional activity sufficient to meet the qualifications required for the assignment of faculty rank of Professor. An earned doctorate and a significant, successful tenure as a senior-level administrator in higher education is greatly preferred. The incoming Dean will have experience with design and delivery of creative educational technology, global education, and multi­disciplinary collaboration and have knowledge of higher education budgeting, planning, personnel, and curricular assessment processes. In addition to excellent communication, teamwork, consensus building, and organizational skills, the incoming Dean will be an adept diplomat. The successful candidate will be an individual with passion and a sense of humor, a self-starter who possesses a keen interest in K-12 and higher education, with both personal and professional interdisciplinary experience.
