Responsibilities

NYIT’s College of Osteopathic Medicine seeks a full time Medical Assistant for the Academic Health Center at our Old Westbury campus.   The Medical Assistant will work in a multi-specialty physician’s office.

  • Escort patients to exam rooms, interview patients and measure vital signs including weight, blood pressure, pulse, temperature and document all information in patient’s EMR.
  • Experience with performing EKG, Vision and hearing screenings
  • Assist physician with minor procedures.
  • Must be able to obtain and process appropriate patient specimens, familiar with transport mediums for lab testing and to conduct CLIA-waived in-house lab testing, such as Urinalysis, UCG.
  • Excellent documentation skills, highly detailed oriented, and ability to multitask and manage time effectively.
  • Familiarity with Insurance referrals
  • Use of EMR and basic office equipment

Qualifications

HS diploma or equivalent required.  Medical Assistant certification required. Two years of Medical Office experience needed and an understanding of medical terminology as well as minimum 1 year Phlebotomy experience. Knowledge of good laboratory practices. Computer skills needed. Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Emergency cardiac care training preferred. May require travel to other location.
