Responsibilities

Reporting to the Dean of Admissions and Financial Aid, the Senior Transfer Advisor provides strategic leadership and effective management of the transfer enrollment team. The Senior Transfer Advisor is responsible for creating and carrying out a robust strategic plan to meet transfer enrollment goals and working collaboratively with Deans, Department Chairs, and other Directors within enrollment to enhance recruitment efforts and admissions standards. Based out of either Manhattan or Old Westbury, the Senior Transfer Advisor manages staff at both New York campuses.

 

 

Responsibilities: 

 

  • Provide strategic leadership in the advancement of transfer enrollment goals;
  • Initiate and lead an effective transfer recruitment plan in order to meet transfer enrollment goals;
  • Develop close relationships with community college leadership in order to maintain/update current articulation agreements and towards the establishment of new agreements; develop close relationships with leadership at key high schools to maintain and/or create articulation agreements for flagship programs;
  • Develop close relationships with deans and department faculty to articulate course equivalencies;
  • Manage the admissions and recruitment efforts for all undergraduate transfer students;
  • Train and supervise professional and support staff members at both campuses; travel between campuses to ensure accurate and timely turnaround on admission decisions and transfer credit evaluations;
  • Manage the transfer credit evaluation process and staff; understanding of course equivalencies and experience with the Transfer Evaluation System (TES) is helpful;
  • Prepare regular reports and analyses to ensure the success of all recruitment activities;
  • Oversee various list purchases including but not limited to CollegeFish;
  • The Senor Transfer Advisor maybe asked to serve on various faculty and staff ad hoc or standing NYIT committees.

Qualifications

 

The ideal candidate has an understanding of the higher education landscape especially as it relates to transfer recruitment and enrollment as well as significant experience in strategic planning especially within the field of transfer recruitment and enrollment, data analysis, articulation agreements, transfer credit evaluations and staff supervision. Exceptional interpersonal, writing, communication, decision-making, collaboration and organizational skills are also mandatory.   Experience with student information data systems such as PeopleSoft and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) is necessary. Ability to work some nights and weekends as well as travel between campuses as needed is expected.

 

Master’s degree required and a minimum of 5-8 years of progressive, professional experience in admissions. The candidate must be able to work evenings and weekends when required.
